Managing 30 million km2 of airspace, safety is a high priority for Airways New Zealand. With locations around the country, they recently upgraded access to the roof on the Andy Herd building at their Christchurch facility.
Needing to regularly check equipment on the roof was previously a challenge. Staff had to be trained in height safety, including regular refreshers, which was a challenge on a 24hr shift rostered workforce. They needed safe and simple access that staff could use in any weather conditions, at any time.
A series of raised walkways with handrails provided ease of access in sun, rain or snow. Equipment could be checked quickly without the need for cumbersome safety lines. Additionally, roof membrane protection has been enhanced with less opportunity for leaks to occur, and RF exposure is becoming more controlled.
“We have provided a safer, more accessible access method for our staff by using the Monkey Toe access solution.” Chris Hentschel
