The Palms Mall

Project Overview

Only four kilometres from Christchurch's CBD, The Palms is one of the city's largest malls. There are 110 retailers including the first Reading Cinema in the region.

Owners AMP Capital Investors continue to expand and upgrade the building doing major strengthening to the property after it was damaged in the 2011earthquakes.

Large parts of the roof used timber walkways. These sit directly on the roof, causing debris traps and leaching tanins. This results in corrosion and damage to the roof.

Over time, the owners are working to replace these walkways and platforms with Monkey Toe walkways, platforms and ladders. The marine grade aluminium comes with a lifetime warranty, and walkways are raised off the roof to prevent debris from being caught.
