This month at Monkeytoe November 2021

Check out what's been happening at Monkeytoe in November in our latest monthly news feature.

A note from Budd

Hi everyone,

There’s plenty still going on as we wrap up the year. We’ll soon be welcoming new team members; we’ve got our annual Monkeytoe Muster bash before December’s out; and we have some projects to celebrate.

As we look to close out another incredible year at Monkeytoe, I’d like to give thanks to the incredible people we’ve worked with. Not just the team who have worked tirelessly across a challenging twelve months and maintained our high standard of excellence, but also our business partners and clients across the country who’ve made it a pleasure to work across industry. As always, we’re grateful for your ongoing support and the chance to have worked on some exciting, innovative and bold projects. Thank you.

Some important info to get out of the way: Monkeytoe will close up its doors for the year on 23 December 2021 and re-open on 10 January 2022. We’ll be making the most of the summer – recharging the batteries, reflecting on the year that’s been, preparing for the year ahead, and spending some time with our families.

As for freight, the last days for the year are as follows: Thursday 2 December for the South Island, and Friday 13 December for the North Island. Make sure you’ve got everything in place before then, and you’ll be sorted for those last jobs.

Make sure you’ve set aside some time this summer to reset and reflect, so we can all go boldly into a new year.

Cheers,

Budd

2021 with Monkeytoe

What would the end of the year be without a look-back at some of our highlights? We’ve put together a video on some stand-out moments from 2021, including key installs, our Mornings with Monkeytoe sessions hosted by Louis Herman-Watt, the Golden Tickets, and more. Check it out!

Te Koutu School

When immersion school Te Kotou in Rotorua needed safe access to a second-storey classroom, we were more than happy to help with a reliable, high-performing stair solution.

We created a stair and platform combination that was designed for their space, fitting it quickly so that the upper level classroom wouldn’t be out of action for more than a day.

? If it wasn’t for your Gumboot (Fridays)

For those good sorts out there who have depression, every day can feel like you’re walking through mud. So on nominated Fridays during the year, I Am Hope encourages Kiwis to join in the mental health conversation by giving a gold coin, and taking a walk in gumboots for a day at a time.

Gumboot Friday, as it’s known, was started by comedian and TV personality Mike King to promote a positive societal change. On Friday November 5, our goal was to walk a combined total of 120km in gumboots – one km for every Kiwi kid who dies of suicide each year – but we ended up finishing with a total of 146 km and raising $4,300 for I Am Hope. If you’d like to get involved, then make sure you stay tuned to their social channels so you can gumboot up and have a conversation. It might even save a life.

Grow a Mo

In last month’s update, Bertus Smit talked about the Movember cause. He shared why it’s such a great chance to open up to the important people in your life, check in on a mate, and help improve awareness of prostate cancer, testicular cancer, and men’s suicide.

This Movember, we’ve smashed our fundraising target of $7,500, seen some great growing progress across the team, and had some valuable conversations with our colleagues, friends, and family about the importance of looking after each other.

BBQ flavoured goodness!

We’ve added a new, special treat to Monkeytoe’s growing collection of tasty offerings. Joining our ginger beer and lemon-aid is the new Monkeytoe BBQ nut mix. With a blend of peanuts, almonds, cashews, and macadamias, lucky customers might find a bag of Monkeytoe BBQ nut mix in their hands going forward.
