Nestled away on the outskirts of Nelson is Waimea Community Dam.

Waimea Community Dam will be operational along the Lee River. When it rains in the wet winter months the Lee River will run higher and the Dam system will capture the higher flows of water and store it all in a reservoir that is currently being built in the Lee Valley.

The project is currently an active construction site with more Monkeytoe yet to be installed.
